Having problems getting snmp traps ... Can you help me?
Q: Having problems getting snmp traps to work. Keep getting an "unknown". No matter what OID is put in place. I have tested with a general trap manager and the traps are being generated by the device "Moxa ioLogin 2210". Have even tried to keep on "Any" trap and still nothing. Can you help me?
A:
1) It may be that IPHost listens for the traps on the non-default port (not on the 162 one). Say, during the installation this port was busy and the IPHost Network Monitor installer chose another one. You may find the actual port number used in the Global Settings dialog, System tab, SNMP traps Receiver UDP port setting.
Specify this port number in the settings of the devices.
2) If it is undesirable to use the non-default port (and change settings on the devices) you may force IPHost Network Monitor to use the default (162) port. To do so change the *UDPTrapReceiverPort* property in the nms.ini file located at C:\ProgramData\IPHost Network Monitor on Vista/Windows 7 or at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\IPHost Network Monitor on WindowsXP/2003 and restart the monitorings service (Tools -> Stop monitoring service -> Start monitoring service)
3) You might want to stop the "general trap manager" during testing with IPHost Network Monitor to avoid conflicts.
